A kitchen faucet, or kitchen tap, is the fixture that controls water flow at your sink. It's one of the most used fittings in the entire house, turned on and off dozens of times a day, which is exactly why the difference between a good one and a cheap one shows up fast: in how smoothly the handle turns, how long the finish holds up against dishwashing liquid and hard water, and how well the spout reaches every corner of the sink.

Kitchen mixer is the two-handle style, with separate controls for hot and cold water that blend at the spout. It's the more traditional format and works well in kitchens where precise temperature control matters, dishwashing, for instance, where you want water hot enough to cut through grease without fiddling with a single lever.
Kitchen sink tap is the single-lever format, one handle controlling both flow and temperature. It's faster to operate one-handed, which matters more than people expect when you're holding a pan in the other hand, and it tends to suit smaller sinks better since there's only one fixture body taking up counter space.
Both are available in wall-mounted and deck-mounted versions. Wall-mounted taps keep the counter and sink deck completely clear, which works well if your kitchen counter is narrow or you're mounting over a stone or marble sink. Deck-mounted taps install directly onto the sink or counter surface and are the more common choice for standard modular kitchens, since they don't need extra plumbing routed through the wall.
What to check before buying
Body material. Brass is the standard for anything that sees daily water contact, since it resists corrosion in a way plastic and lighter alloys can't match over years of use.
Finish. Chrome is the standard for kitchen use because it holds up against daily splashing, dish soap, and wiping, without dulling the way some matte finishes can in a wet, high-contact environment.
Mount compatibility. Confirm whether your counter or wall already has the plumbing rough-in for the mount type you want. Switching from deck to wall-mount (or the reverse) during a renovation usually means new plumbing work, not just a fixture swap.
Spout height and reach. A taller spout clears large pots more easily, but check your window and cabinet clearance above the sink before choosing one, tall spouts can hit lower cabinets or a window sill in compact kitchens.
Handle type. If you're often cooking with wet or full hands, a single-lever sink tap is easier to adjust one-handed than a two-handle mixer.
